A MILITARY HOSPITAL
Sir,—There are thousands of men disabled. seriously sick and wounded. Many are in public hospitals,, mental hospitals and sanatoria, and a great number are neglected. Would it not be wise to build a suitable military hospital which, instead of arches, bridges, and halls, could serve as a memorial to our men? So as to serve efficiently men from both islands, it should be near Wellington, our capital city. There are capable returned doctors and nurses who could do great work in such a hospital. Would not the Returned Services’ Association and women’s organisations help? What will General Freyberg think of our country and its M.P.'s? The Government spends millions on mental hospitals, railways, etc. Is there a suitable military convalescent hospital in New Zealand for servicemen to return to? What is the Government doing to help them?— Yours, etc., RETURNED NURSE. January 18, 1946.
