TRAFFIC CONTROL
~S ir> 7-Who and what is responsible for lHa tw ° upright notices impeding traffic at the intersection of Cashel and Durham streets with Cambridge terrace? In many places thousands of pounds were wasted on "silent .policemen domes, of which no experienced motorist ever takes* the slightest notice. To.take the long way round them of \Z° m sl * s °! a x tr .*angle only throttles traffic; to cut straight across (of course allowing for oncoming traffic) facilitates traffic. If cyclists observed the law as do other vehicles, of keeping as close to the near sides as practicable, there would not be a great volume of traffic^ apparent in Christchurch, except for a few minutes daily at rush periods; and even .then this traffic would be greatly facilitated. If traffic is impeded it causes congestion and confusion; causing accidents. Who is responsible if these excrescences cause accidents?— Yours, etc., MOTORIST SINCE 1908. November 30, 1945.
