CANTERBURY FEDERATION A letter from the Ministry of Supply per Mrs William Deans, thanking women's institutes for their splendid efforts towards the reclamation of waste materials during the war period, was read at the last meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Federation of Women's Institutes It was announced that the Canterbury province had been' instrumental in raising more than £12,000 by collecting scrap metal and waste rubber. Miss E. M. Le Lievre presided at the meeting. It was arranged for the annual federation council meeting to be held on April 10. when Mrs Sawer, Auckland, would conduct a round table conference In the afternoon, and it was announced that the Dominion conference would be held in Wellington on July 24. 25, and 26, 1946. Mrs Coleman, group convener, was thanked for her work in connexion with the luncheon at the half-yearly meeting and .it was mentioned that Mesdames Davis and Candy had assisted in the health. camp street collection. Mrs Davis reported that she had been chosen to represent the institutes on CORSO", and a donation towards the federation funds was received from the group festival committee. Mention was made of the knitting competition, organised by the Wool Board. A committee comprising Women's Division and Women's Institute personnel will be in charge of the provincial effort.
