ORPHEUS CHOIR
ENJOYABLE CONCERT "The Orpheus Choir, under its conductor, Mr F. C. Penfold, has a record of which it may well be proud, not only musically, but for cheerful, friendly, helpfulness in good causes," said Mr J.' L. Hay, speaking on behalf of guests at the club's recital at the Mayfair Lounge last night. The programme presented by the choir for the entertainment of the guests- was varied and enjoyable, and the choir has seldom been heard to better advantage. They sang several groups of part songs and choruses in which solo parts were taken by Mrs Lillian Pethybridge. Mr J. H. Cocks, and Mr R. Allison.
Songs were sung by two newcomers to the choir, Mrs E. Fulton and Miss Eunice Scott, and by Miss Marjorie Nelson and Mr R. Allison, established favourites with Orpheus Choir audiences. ' The guest artist, Miss Frona King, was warmly applauded for her elocutionary items. Pianoforte accompaniments were played by Mrs H. Reeve and by Miss Marjorie Robertson, the choir's accompanist, who also played two Chopin waltzes.
