New Season’s Racing In forwarding to the Racing Conference proposed dates of race meetings for the coming new season all clubs have applied for the same number of days as in the current season, but have submitted additional dates to be considered "if restrictions be lifted.” These applications will be dealt with at the annual meeting of the Racing Conference on July 13, but no doubt a statement from the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding the extent of next season’s racing will be made known long before that date. It is' confidently expected in racing circles that the bulk of the suspended permits will be restored. Not Accepted For Cataract’s name appears in the acceptances for the Pareora Hack Steeplechase at Washdyke to-day, but his ownertrainer, F. Roberts, states that he did not accept with him. First Attempt Roman Son is to have his first race over country at Washdyke to-day. He has always been a proficient jumper, and the fences should not trouble him, while he has proved himself quite at home In heavy going. May Be Prominent Test Pilot will be given a chance to show his ability in the cross-country event at Washdyke to-day. He was schooled by R. Register over the fences yesterday and shaped well, and his effort to-day will be followed with interest. Going to Suit Arabian Night ran some good races in heavy going last winter, and as he has given some encouraging schooling displays over hurdles he may spring a surprise in to-day’s race at Washdyke. A Stable Pair The Wlngatul trainer, H. A. Anderton, provided first and second horses, Jacksonville and Phil Boa, in the steeplechase event at Oamaru, and he will be represented by Jacksonville and Tenorman at Washdyke to-day. The latter ran third to Sir Percy and Steward in the Riverton Steeplechaste on April 12 after falling when leading In the hack steeplechase earlier In the day. That form sounds promising. Much-Travelled Hippodrome had a second placing at Te Aroha last week and, is engaged at Te Rapa to-day. He has had several changes of ownership and trainers since he began racing and was for some months trained by D. Cotton at Riccarton. After being sold last year he went into A. Winder's stable at Te Rapa, but following another recent charge in ownership he is now again being trained by D. Cotton at the same centre. A Solid Burden Reorapa is to have his first race since January at Trentham in the Gorge Hack Handicap at Marton to-day. His last start was in open company with 7-5, and in returning to the hack class he has to carry the steadier of 10-2. No doubt he will be back into the open grade after to-day's race. Jumping at Te Rapa At Te Rapa on Tuesday Maggiore gave an attractive display over six hurdles, in company with Town Survey and Varuna, and appeared to hold them throughout. The Riccarton mare, which will be ridden by K. Thomson, is likely to be well supported In the Hamilton Hurdles, two miles, to-day. Albino attracted notice by some brilliant Jumping in a task over nine fences of the steeplechase course. He led throughout from 'Abbey Lu.- The Vulture “went, out with this pair but, fencing carefully, soon dropped back and half-way through the journey slipped Into the side of a brush fence and came down. Rockery- had a recent winner in Roman Orator as a companion over nine steeplechase fences, the pair kept together throughout. Rockery was credited with an encouraging display,, and he. too, is expected to make a bold showing to-day.
