LEAGUE FOOTBALL
THIRD GRADE MATCH AT GREYMOUTH
Marist third grade A beat Canterbury by 5 points to 3, after a good exhibition at Wlngham Park, Greymouth, during the week-end. Willis scored a try for Marist, and Inwood converted. Murray scored for Canterburry. Runanga third grade beat Canterbury by 20 points to 8.
Education BUI.—“Mr Fraser would not face the issue. He put on his running shoes. He dropped the bUI and bolted,” said the Hon. W. E. Barnard (Independent, Napier), when referring to the fate of the recent Education BiU, to which he had intended to move an amendment to remove the provision that education should be secular. “It was controversial, but that was nothing new,” he said, replying to a woman interjector, “It was put on the bottom of the order paper and remained there until it fell through. If people are not prepared to ’ace an issue, it is a fair inference that they are running away.”
