OBITUARY
MRS A. E. WILKINSON
Mrs A. E. Wilkinson, who died in Christchurch recently, was the widow of Mr Walter Wilkinson, formerly of “Higham,” Chertsey. Her grandparents were pioneers of Tasmania where they took up and developed a large estate known as “Plassy.” With her parents, Mr and Mrs MacCormack, Mrs Wilkinson came to Christchurch in 1879. She continued her studies at Canterbury University College and entered the teaching profession, being on the staff of Christchurch East School. After her marriage in 1892, she lived at Chertsey and took an active part in the Mothers’ Union, Tennis Club, Red Cross Society, and Social Club of the district. Her husband died in 1921, and since then she had lived at Innes road, Christchurch. She is survived by all her children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
