VAST EARTHQUAKE IN JAPAN
HUNDREDS OF BUILDINGS DEMOLISHED
(Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 11. Broadcasts from India report a vast earthquake in Japan. Osaka was among the seriously damaged towns. Hundreds of buildings were demolished, but the casualties cannot yet be estimated. A Tokyo broadcast announced p rather severe earthquake in south-west Japan last evening. Great damage was done at Tottofi, 400 miles west of Tokyo. Houses collapsed and many were killed. Rescuers are still searching the ruins. The earthquake was also felt at Osaka and Hiroshima.
