FLOWER AND VEGETABLE SHOW

Members of the Hard of Hearing League yesterday held a successful flower, _ fruit, and vegetable show, in their rooms in the Press buildings. The proceeds will be devoted to the league’s funds. The following were prize-winners; Apples and potatoes, Mr Hyslop: parsnips, Miss Nunweek; carrots, best pumpkin, single chrysanthemums. autumn leaves and berries, and sand saucer, Miss Scott: cabbages. Miss Mclntosh: marrow. Mr Trail, collectldn of vegetables and vase of flowers, Mis Parsons; onions, Mr Henry: pears, Miss Olllvor: three varieties apples, Mrs Barlow: chrysanthemums, Mrs Chapman: ladv’s spray, Mac Gibbon, Mason, and Company; posy bowl, Miss Tabor; floating bowl, Miss Boyd. , Tea was served by the catering committee, and at a miscellaneous stall, in charge of Mrs Sinclair and Miss Rountree, and a voung people's stall, in charge of Mrs Abbott, Miss O’Connor, and Miss Nunweek, good business was done. In the evening a travel talk was given by Mr Cranlelgh Barton.
