Medical Officer Welcomed,—A cordial welcome was extended to Captain W. G. Volckman, N.Z.M.C.. by members of the Patriotic Committee when he visited Leeston during the week-end. Captain Volckman returned recently from the Middle East, after a long period of service. At present he is on leave, but will report again for military duty shortly. Entertainment of Soldiers. —It had been decided to hold a weekly dance for the entertainment of soldiers, Mr F. J. Monk reported to a meeting of the Kaikoura County Council. He added that, should any other organisation wish to hold a dance in the drill hall, the council would forgo its dance, provided provision was made for the entertainment of any soldiers in the district.
