ALLOWANCE FOR SOLDIERS’ MOTHER
Sir. —If a mother has two sons in camp, is she entitled to portion of their pay while in this country? Should they be sent overseas, would the allowance, if any. be increased? —Yours, etc., MOTHER. January 11, 1943. [An officer at Southern District Headquarters said that there was no compulsion on a son to Rive his mother portion of his pay. He had to allot 4s 6d a day. but the allotment could be paid into a bank or on an insurance policy or to some person. If a man’s allotment did go to his mother, it would not be automatically increased when lie went overseas, although, if he wished, he could increase it slightly.!
