TOBACCONIST CHARGES
Sir, —I regret having to pursue the above subject further. It appears that "Try Tobacconists First” has misunderstood my letter. The prices quoted by him appear to be in order, and he is apparently an honest tobacconist. It is pleasing to note that a tobacconist will carry his slocks held for a long time and bought at cheaper prices and be prepared to sell them cheaper than recent importations at much higher prices, A large tobacconist informed me that most of the stock sold by him this year for Christmas presents was carried over from last year and his prices were reasonable. I maintain that the pipe submitted at 27s 6d was to all appearances similar to that submitted by another tobacconist at 18s fid. The one submitted at 18s fid was previously sold at 7s fid. So from the foregoing it would appear that some tobacconists love a little gamble. —Yours, etc., TRY A CHEMIST. January 11, 194.3.
