THE MAORI BATTALION

Sir, —I am positive that the Maoris who have sons, brothers, or husbands overseas will readily endorse the remark made by Mr Te Ari Pitama at the meeting of Christchurch Maoris, when he stated, “It we are going to be practical the first thing we should do is to ask that the Maori boys should be sent back to New Zealand,” etc. It would be wise of those who have no sons or brothers overseas if they were to remain silent and take a back seat, and allow those who have sons, etc., to favour or oppose Mr Te Ari Pitama's very thoughtful and timely suggestion. —Yours, etc., HILDA M. TRAILL. Kaiapoi. December 10, 1942.
