DECLARED ESSENTIAL
SADDLERS, BAGMAKERS, AND ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY The electrical industry in respect of classes of work specified in the major awards—including the Marlborough, Nelson, Westland, and © Canterbury award —has been declaredessential, according to the twentieth list of declarations received by the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association. Classes of work specified in the New Zealand (except Marlborough and Nelson) saddlers’, harness makers’, collar makers’, and bagmakers’ award, have also been declared an essential industry. The recent declaration referring to permanent employees engaged in the manufacture of flour, wheatmeal, wholemeal, oatmeal (and other products for human consumption resulting from the milling of wheat or oats) has been amended to include clerical and administrative staffs. The declaration applying to teachers has been amended by the addition after the words “in public schools” of the words “and including also teachers employed in registered private schools.” Miscellaneous listings include: — Fleming and Company, Ltd., at Christchurch; Milligan’s Eclipse Flour Company, Ltd., at Oamaru; Wood Brothers.
