OBITUARY
MRS DAVID NICOLL Advice has been received in Auckland from London of the death of a well-known New Zealander, Mrs Bessie Nicoll, widow of Mr David Nicoll and eldest daughter of the Hon. J. B. Whyte, for many years member for Waikato in the House of Representatives and afterwards a member of the Upper House. She was a graduate in arts of the University of New Zealand, and became secretary to the Hon. W. Pember Reeves, High Commissioner for New Zealand. Toward the end of the last war. some 40 of the London transport companies were co-ordinated, and she was appointed head of the statistical department, being the only woman to be retained oy this concern when the men returned from the war.
