EFFECTS OF ALCOHOL
Sir,—The Rev. M. A. Rugby Pratt is reported to'have protested against wet canteens because of “the sound scientific knowledge' that the church possessed of the effects of alcohol on mmd and body." Why of alcohol only? ! quote Dr. Walter Dixon, F.R.S., D.P.H.. The habit of tea and coffee drinking is becoming sufficiently serious to attract attention. Public health authouties will find much here worthy of their consideration; politicians may care to reconsider their policy, based as it is on the supposed innocence of these beverages, and temperance societies might be well advised to include the evils of tea and coffee drinking in their propaganda. -Yours, etc.. CHEES EMONGER. November 20, 1942.
