TEA AND SUGAR RATIONS
* INCREASE IN DECEMBER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 20, Arrangements made for the release of tea and sugar for the month of Oe* cember were announced to-day by tne Minister of Supply (the Hon. D. O. Sullivan!. The basic sugar ration » increased from 10 to 12 ounces during, this period, and an additional three pounds of Sugar is made available w every consumer for the manufacture of jam in the homes; Coupon nu®* bers five to eight inclusive are to M used, with a surrender value of ZJ ounces each, and may be redeemed at any time from November 23 to tji# end of December. It is possible that a further quantity of sugar may be made available during the early part of 1943 for jam* making purposes. It has also been decided to restore the recent cut ol 25 per cent, made in supplies of sugar to manufacturers. For the month of December only, an additional four ounces of tea will be made available to every person entitled to a tea ration. This will be effected by giving coupons numbers five to eight inclusive a total value of 12 oupces for the calendar month of December. . . “I think,” said Mr Sullivan, that everyone will be glad to receive the additional tea ration, which should contribute to some extent to the c. * bration of the Christmas festivities, curtailed through necessity in so many other directions.”
