TRAINING TO BEAT JAPAN
Sir,—Your article will be applauded by many who will agree "that it is time to forget the outmoded notion that the parade ground is the only place to beget discipline." Many of us have had two years of vain repetition of parade ground orders. Only last week one officer spent more than half an hour teaching men with two years' service to salute. This futile training and the feeling that the higher command apparently approves is heartbreaking to willing men. There is need for complete reorganisation. In the meantime, millions of pounds and much manpower are being wasted.— Yours, etc., ANOTHER GUARDSMAN. September 13, 1942.
