Buyers of Government stocks Increased their bids substantially yesterday, and fair sized parcels of the 4 per cent. (15/4/1946-49) and 4 per cent. (15/6/195255) changed hands at the improved prices of £lO4 10s and £lO6 17s 6d respectively, and more were wanted at the same prices. Sales on ’Change.—£lols N.Z. Sales Reported—so A.C.1., 46s 6d. In the shipping section Adelaide Steam had buyers at 295, sellers asking 325. Huddart Parker had buyers at 43s 6d, buyers at 44s 6d. Buyers of Union Steam preference increased their bids to 27s 3d, no sellers. In the frozen meat section buyers of Canterbury Frozen Meat ordinary increased their bids to £l2 ss, and for the preference Issue to £7 5s without attracting sellers. Kaitangata Coal had buyers at 31s, sellers at 32s 9d. Westport Coal were fractionally firmer with buyers at 24s 6d, no sellers offering. Christchurch Gas, fully paid, were firm on buyers' offers of 22s lid, without response. Buyers of Ballins Breweries (15s paid) increased their bids to 10s 9d, sellers asking 13s. There was a sale of Broken Hill at 365, and more were wanted at the same price, sellers 36s 3d. Booth, Macdonald preference buyers remained firm with buyers at 5s lid, sellers retreating to 7s 6d, Milburn Lifne were firm with buyers at 35s 9d, no sellers. New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative "A” preference were wanted at the improved price of 355, sellers remaining at 40s. Weeks, Ltd., were very firm with buyers at £9 ss, no sellers. Woolworths (N.Z.), ordinary, had sales at 14s 3d, and more were wanted at the same price. The preference shares were sought after at 36s 6d, sellers asking 39s 9d.
