WAIMATE SHOW ABANDONED

* (0.R.) WAIMATE. August 14. A general meeting of members of the Waimate Agricultural and Pastoral Association to-day decided to abandon the show this year. The secretary (Mr A. J. Hoskins), in reply to a question, said the balance of income over expenditure, leaving the show out of consideration, was roughly £l7. The president (Mr D. B. Wilson) thanked the secretary for an offer to accept a voluntary cut in salary. A proposal by Mr R. Rickman, seconded by Mr A. H. Cooke, to hold a gymkhana about Christmas found no supporters. . , It was decided to circularise members urging them to stand by the association in the circumstances entailed by war conditions.
