POPE CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY
1 STRAIN OF WAR-TIME ACTIVITIES VATICAN CITY, March 12. The Pope celebrated the third anniversary of his coronation to-day. The chief ceremony in Rome was Papal Mass in the Sistine Chapel. The "Osservatore Romano” emphasises that the Pope’s war-time activities have several times reduced him to a sick-bed. The Pope is not naming new cardinals as a sign of mourning for the war.. The Vatican is believed to be anxious to establish relations with the Japanese, because many Catholics are under their domination in the Pacific.
