EXPERIMENTS WITH SMOKE SCREENS
USE AGAINST TANK FORCES
WASHINGTON, March 12. The United States chemical warfare service has reported successful experiments with smoke screens which delayed an entire motorised regiment for an hour and a half. Anti-tank units have been quick to adopt smoke as a means of slowing up tanks causing loss of direction and paralysing tank movements temporarily. Whenever desired the smoke can be lifted to provide a better target. The tanks are then silhouetted against the smoke in the background.
