RAILWAYS NOW OPEN

MORE SUPPLIES FOR LENINGRAD (Received January 14, 10.40 p.m.) LONDON, January 13. The chairman of the Leningrad Food Board reports that the railways into Leningrad from Tikhvin and Voibokala are now open and that food and fuel are coming into the city each day in increasing quantities. Their difficulties, he said, were not yet over, and Leningrad was still within German reach, but the Red Army would soon break the enemy’s ring. The line between Leningrad and Moscow, he added, was cut after September, but the task of supplying Leningrad was never completely brought to a standstill. Stringent economy in the use of food and fuel was still necessary, but the worst was now over.
