CLAY BIRD SHOOTING
CHAMPIONSHIP DECIDED AT RANGIORA The North Canterbury Gun Club held a clay bird championship shoot at Rangiora on Saturday afternoon. Conditions were made difficult by a tricky wind and bad light. The first match of five birds drew 16 entries, and the following scored possibles: S. Lugg, J. Slvaw, L. Keir, C. Judson, D. Dorreen, L. Johnson, H. B. Sluis, and A. Turner. There were 15 entries for the 17 bird championship, which was shot off 16 yards, A. N. Turner was the winner witli all on, shooting all his birds with the first barrel. J. Shaw. A. Prestney, G. Kcr, and D. Dorreen shot 15 birds and divided the second prize. D. Davison. L. Kier, and J. Brightling, with 14 birds, divided the third prize. Seventeen competitors took part in the third match, a 10 bird gimcrack. The prizes went to J. Shaw, D. Dorreen. J. Brightling. L. Johnson, and A. N. Turner, who shot nine birds. The championship match finalised the aggregate covering the three club championships of the season With aggregates of 38 each, A, N. Turner, J. Brightling, and L. Keir tied for first place.
