TWO CHARGES OF BIGAMY

YOUNG WOMAN COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE

(PA.) AUCKLAND, September 25. An extraordinary story of a young woman’s adventures in marriage was unfolded in the Magistrate’s Court today, when Dorothy Muriel Christensen, aged 27, pleaded guilty to two charges of bigamy, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Two men with whom- she admitted having gone through forms of marriage were each also charged with committing bigamy. One pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial, while the other is not to go for trial, the Magistrate (Mr F.K. Hunt, S.M.) dismissing the charge against him. The woman accused was charged under the name of Christensen, which was her name when the offences were committed. She was charged that, having married Raymond Oliver Christensen, at Auckland, in August, 1935. she went through a form of marriage with Thomas Hynes, at Thames, in October, 1938, thereby committing bigamy; and further, that on February 24. 1939, at Auckland, she went through a form of marriage with Herbert Thomas Hill, thereby committing bigamy. Hill, who is aged 28 years, was not asked to plead, and the charge against him was dismissed. Hynes, who is aged 32 years, pleaded not guilty, reserved his defence, and was committed for trial.
