BOTTLE SHORTAGE
CITY AND SUBURBAN DRIVE PLANNED
TO' relieve a serious shortage of bottles of all types will be one of the primary aims of a "waste” drive to be held on August 30. Mr R. T. Alston, a member of- the publicity committee of the Canterbury Board for the Reclamation of Waste Materials, said yesterday that the drive would be on a large scale, the articles sought being waste metals and bottles. The metals In urgent demand were copper, brass, lead, and aluminium, and also cast-iron for use in foundries.
Apart from assisting patriotic funds, Mr Alston said, members of the public would also be helping various industries.
Boy scouts and members of the Bdys’ Brigade will undertake the collection from various city and suburban districts.
