CHRISTCHURCH FREE KINDERGARTEN

The monthly meeting of the executive of the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association was held at the Association Rooms. The president, Mrs H. T. J. Thacker, presided. Reports were received from the directors of the various schools and from the principal, Miss R. Wilkie, reporting good progress. The health of the children had been good. The children had been receiving supplies of milk and apples, and a definite improvement had been noticed in both growth and development. It was reported that the Government had made arrangements for’the immunisation of the children against diphtheria during the winter months.' As there are 48 names on waiting lists for admittance to the kindergartens it was decided that every effort should be made to meet this need by increasing the staffs and providing additional buildings. - The honorary-treasurer, Mrs A. Keith Hadfleld, reported that she had arranged lor a brass memorial tablet to be suitably inscribed for erection, to the memory of the late Mrs T. E. Taylor, at the Phillipstown School, where Mrs Taylof had carried out valuable work.
