CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS
♦ 222 APPEALS HEARD IN WELLINGTON
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 21. There have been 222 appeals by conscientious objectors deait with in Wellington since the hearings of these appeals began four months ago. Of these, 49 have been allowed, 42 dismissed subject to the performance of non-combatant duty in the armed forces, 84 dismissed, and 47 withdrawn, Of the appeals dismissed before the amending regulations came .into force last month, 32 have been given a rehearing, and four of these appeals, on rehearing, have been allowed. Seven have been dismissed subjedt to noncombatant service being performed, one withdrawn, and 18 dismissed. Two remain to be: heard.
