ACCIDENTS
SURFACEMAN KILLED MOTOR JIGGER LEAVES RAILS (P.A.) WANGANUI, June 22. Severe head injuries from which he died in the Wanganui Public Hospital were received by a railway surfaceman, Percy James Dyke, aged 49, of Wanganui, when a motor-trolley was derailed near the Okoia station, south of Wanganui, on Saturday afternoon. Another surfaceman, who was travelling on the trolley with Dyke at the time, Harold Ashley Wallace, aged 39, of Wanganui, was admitted to hospital, but his condition is satisfactory. The trolley left the rails on a straight piece of track half a mile south of Okoia, Dyke being thrown on to his head. MINOR INJURIES
As a result of minor accidents in the week-end a man and two children were admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, the condition of each last night being satisfactory. They were; lan McKenzie, aged 33, of 158 Southampton street, whose right hand was cut by a circular saw on Saturday; James Young, aged 12, of 54 Rolleston street, who suffered a fractured bone in the lower part of his left leg when he fell from a tree; and Dorreen Bell, aged 14, of 11 Colombo street, who suffered injuries to the tendons in a hand from glass cuts.
