CELEBRATION OF SUMNER BOROUGH JUBILEE
Cr. E. T. Chitty presided over a meeting of a special sub-committee appointed by the Sumner Borough Council to consider steps i to be taken to celebrate the jubilee of the borough. The committee decided to recommend to the council that a conversazione and dinner be held on a Saturday evening as near as possible to June 30; that a booklet be issued giving details of the early days of local government in Sumner and other matters of interest; that Messrs R. Deacon, A. ACheshire, and G. Hines be added to the committee, with power to add more members if necessary; and that the gala committee be asked to run a jubilee gala later in the year for the Mayor’s Emergency and Relief Fund.
