NO HUNTING THIS YEAR
DECISION OF ASHBURTON CLUB No hunting will be carried out in Mid-Canterbury this season by the Ashburton branch of the Christchurch Hunt "Club, according to a decision reached at the annual meeting of the club last evening. The hounds, however, will be kept in good condition to be ready when hunting is resumed. It was stated that there would be no point-to-point steeplechase meeting this year. A decision to thank the master of the Christchurch Hunt Club (Mr Gilbert Grlgg) for not calling on the Ashburton branch to subscribe £SO towards the upkeep of the hounds this season, was made. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £2ll 9s lOd. The surplus'on the year was £7O 19s 4d. Officers elected were;— President. Mr J. H. Grigg; vice-presidents, Messrs J. T. Thomas, Hunter Morris, E. B. Newton, and J. H. Muirhead; committee, Mesdames* A, N. Grigg, G. Read. J. H. Grigg. H. Bruce, L. R. Clarke, C. Stevens, Miss C. Hampton, .Messrs J. C. Guinness, W. Lemon, H. F. McElrea,. Bruce Fechney. R. Hefford. T. L. Williams, J. Roberts. G. McQuilkin, L. J. Fechney, T. Hanrahan, and W. Z. D. Ferriman; honorary auditor, Mr L. R. Clarke; secretary and treasurer, Miss T. L. Jackson. Mr J. H. Grigg presided.
