ADDRESS BY DIETITIAN At the .monthly meeting of the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Women’s Food Value League, there was a good attendance of members, and a bring and buy sale yielded satisfactory results. Mrs A, C. Brassington reported on the visit to Christchurch of Mrs Turner. of Auckland. Miss J. Bell, B H.Sc., was the speaker for the evening, her subject being "Food Fallacies.” 1 Miss Bell said that in her work as a dietitian, she was. constantly struck by the amount of sickness, resulting in waste of human effort and money, which could have been 1 prevented by a. correct diet. This was a time when fallacious ideas concerning diet had to be fought by the dissemination of scientific knowledge. Miss Bell discussed several current food fallacies, for example, the idea that the eating of fresh fruits made the blood stream acid and that certain food combinations should not be eaten together.
