WAIMATE BOROUGH ELECTIONS
TWO CANDIDATES FOB MAYORALTY
Wlflle the only nomination so far lodged in connexion with the Waimate Borough elections is that of Mr George Dash, who is again offering his services as Mayor, inquiries show that members of the council who have decided to accept nomination are Messrs G. R. Watters. S. I. Fitch, W. G. Paul, R. H. White, and G. R. A. Sawell. Mr J. Atwill is undecided and Messrs C. W. Dickson and R. W. McDonald have stated that they are not seeking re-election. . Mr W. F. Boland has stated his intention of contesting the Mayoralty. It is understood that Messrs John Moore, sen., and P. G. Berry will be nominated for seats on the council, while Messrs H. H. Leathwick (a former member of the Timaru Borough Council), J. Hutt, P. J. Convery, and H. J. Bowron have been requested to stand, but have Jiot made a decision in the matter. . . , . Mr Dash has been nominated for election to the South Canterbury Power Board, of which -he has been chairman for some years. The majority of the members of Waimate County Council have been nominated. They are:—Messrs A. S. Elworthy,' H. B. S. Johnstone, J. Bitchener,,A. N. Hayes, and H. M. Whatman. Mr Whatman has also been nominated for the Timaru Harbour Board. '
