POWER SUPPLY TO WAIMATE
LOAN OF £26,000 PROPOSED An application for permission to borrow £20,000 without a poll of ratepayers to construct electric works for the improvement of the power supply to the Waimate Borough and County, the security to be in annually recurring special rate of .04 pence in the pound, will be made to the Local Governments Loans Board, according to the decision of the South Canterbury Electric Power Board yesterday morning. It was intended to open a new point of supply at Glenavy, but the Public Wo<ts Department has n.ow approved the opening of a new point of supply at Studholme, so that the amount of the loan applied for was reduced from £30,500, to £26,000.
