BRITISH-AMERICANF COOPERATION
♦ BRANCH OF MOVEMENT INAUGURATED A branch of the British-American Co-operation Movement was officially inaugurated in Christchurch last evening, more than 35 persons attending a meeting at the City Council Chambers. Dr. G. Jobberns presided. It was stated in a circular before the meeting that a New Zealand section had already been formed in Wellington, and that the aims! of the movement were (broadly) to encourage close relations (diplomatic, commercial, cultural, and spiritual), to cooperate in defence, and to keep war out of the Pacific. A provisional general committee was elected comprising Dr. Jobberns. Messrs W F. Baxter J. K. Moloney, A. J. Campbell, T. Andrews, J. R. Templin, J. Ferrier, W. 'Thompson. Bernard Skinner, the Rev. A. Gabauer, Mesdames R. A. Maclaren, W. Machin,. K Hammond, Sholto Douglas, and Miss E. Webster. ■ Mr’Moloney was elected chairman. Miss B. Hay was elected honorary i organiser and secretary, with Mr Baxter honorary assistant-organiser and assistant-secretary. • . The committee decided that a drive for membership would be conducted as soon as possible. '
