GAY FROCKS AND WHITE HATS

SUNSHINE AND WIND AT RICCARTON Close fitting hats, firmly anchored by elastic headbands, were the only type of head-dress that defied the onslaughts of a boisterous wind that swept across the Riccarton racecourse yesterday when the Canterbury Jockey Club continued its metropolitan meeting. But the wind was the only fly in the amber and was not sufficient to spoil the pleasure of the many who enjoyed the excellent programme of events, the most important of which were the New Zealand Oaks Stakes and the Canterbury Cup.
