OBITUARY
♦ MR H. C. SWANN The death has occurred at his sou’s residence at Stanley Bay, Auckland, of. Mr.Herbert Charles Swann, aged 72. He was born in Kaiapoi and, when-only six weeks old, he left with his parents in the ship Western Star for Fiji, where he remained until two years ago. During his 70 years’ residence in Fiji, Mr Swann was engaged .in copra planting and inter-island trading, and for many years he was associated with Burns, Philn and Company, Ltd., Levuka. Mr" Swann was also well known through the family connexion with a retail chemist business in Samoa, Levuka, and Suva, the first shop being opened by his father. Mr Swann is survived by his wife and nine children. There are 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
