HOCKEY
MARKHAM CUP FINAL ROVERS A AND OAMARU A TO PLAY OFF Rovers A and Oamaru A, first equal at the head of the North Otago Men’s Hockey Sub-Association’s competition for the Markham Cup, will meet to decide the final at Waimate to-morrow afternoon. When these two teams met in the first round Oamaru beat Rovers by two goals to one in the best exhibition of hockey seen at Oamaru for some time. To-morrow’s game is expected to reach the same high standard. The umpires for the match, which will start at 2 o’clock, are Messrs A. C...Barnes,,(Dunedin) and J, Bennington (Waimate). Oamaru A won the competition last year. The draw for to-morrow’s women’s games is as follows:—Athletic v. Pirata, at 1.15 p.m. (Mr H. J. McDonald); Waimate v. Maheno, at Waimate, 3.15 p.m. (Mr R. W. Arnott); Kurow v. Windsor, at 2.45 p.m. (Mr E. H, Coker).
TABLE TENNIS HANDICAP TOURNAMENT TO BE PLAYED Good entries have been received for the North Otago Table Tennis Association’s handicap tournament to be held to-morrow afternoon and evening in the Sports Depot Club’s rooms. The entries will close to-day with club secretaries or the secretary of the association (Mr L. S. Green).
