SERIOUS RIOTS IN DAMASCUS
MINISTERIAL CRISIS CONTINUES
FRENCH TROOPS GUARD STRATEGIC POINTS
(Received March 21, 8 p.m.) DAMASCUS. March 20. French troops are guarding strategic positions as a result of disturbances after which France took over the maintenance of internal security. Demonstrations are forbidden. There is no indication of the Ministerial crisis ending. The Beirut correspondent of “The Times” reports that five were killed and 30 wounded on March 19, when Damascus police fired on student demonstrators, including girls.
