♦ ANNUAL MEETING AT SCARGILL The annual meeting of the Scargill Horticultural and Home Industries Society was held in the Scargill. Hall. Mr T. E. L. Roberts presided over a record attendance. The following officers were elected; —Patron, Mr H. Acton-Adams; president, Mr T. E. L. Roberts; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames E. Gardner, H. Stewart, H. Acton-Adams, H. M. Overton, H. B. Douglas, Messrs S. B. Gibb, J. Sloss, and W. J. Leach; honorary secretary, Mr A. Dilworth-Fox; committee, Mesdames T. E. L. Roberts, A. Fairbairn, A. Dilworth-Fox, W. Fleming, G. Tomlinson, A. Stone, A. T. Allan, C. H. Coe, W. J. Leach, H. A. Murray, B. A. Coe, C. Stewart, A. Gardner, J. Gardner, and L. J. MeNaughton, Misses Pannett, and C. Harrison, Messrs J. W. Harrison, F. Roberts, T. Gardner, J. Gardner, A. Harrison; auditor, Mr T. O. Johnson. It was decided to hold the 1939 show on Saturday, September 30. A special committee’s report recommending a Waipara county district class was approved, and the meeting expressed its appreciation of Mr G. A. Grieg’s generous offer to provide a cup for this class. This year there will be no entry fee and no prize money for the children’s classes, certificates and trophies being given instead. Offers of special prizes were received from Mrs Fairbairn, Mrs H. Stewart, and Mrs Sutton. It was decided to revert to the original prize for all adult Judges were appointed provisionally. . Stewards were also appointed.
