TREATMENT OF DOGS WITH ARECOLINE

*0 THE EDITO* or THE PSESS. Sir, —There are many complaints about the result of the treatment of dogs with arecoline, but so far never a good word for it. As regards my dog, I followed instructions, except I gave only half the dose, which proved most satisfactory. The rest of the day he was kept warm and quiet. For a day or so he seemed a bit tired, but now is in first-class condition, lively and energetic. Many rabbits are shot at week-ends, near the beaches. The offal (which ought to be buried) is left on the grass, or in broom, lupins, and gorse. This is easily got by dogs and near where people picnic and sit about. This, of course, helps to spread the trouble. —Yours, etc., LOVER OF DOGS. March 13. 1939.
