CZECH KILLED IN LONDON FIRE
UNABLE TO UNDERSTAND CRIES OF ALARM

LONDON, December 24,
. A Czech refugee, Mr Bruno Reichert, former Mayor of Hirschfeld, in Sudetenland, where his wife and children remain, was burnt to death when fire damaged a block of flats at Bayswater, in which ne was living with two other refugees. The three were trapped because they were unable to understand the cries of alarm nor why the dogs barked. Firemen rescued Reichert’s companions. Three boarders escaped by ropes, and an Indian student leapt from a window.
