PLIGHT OF JEWS IN SHANGHAI
FEW FIND WORK: MANY FACE STARVATION
(Received December 26, 7.5 p.m.)
SHANGHAI, December 24,
A further 562 Jewish refugees arrived from Europe. Many of them are penniless. Thousands more are expected.
Only a tenth of the refugees have up to now found work, and the remainder are in danger of starvation because local resources are already over-taxed by the Chinese refugee problem.
