BITTER ATTACK BY MINISTER
POLITICAL SENSATION IN AUSTRALIA
RESENTMENT OF OPPOSITION • CRITICISM
(Received December 20, 10.30 pjn.) SYDNEY, December 20. According to the "Sun," a political sensation has been caused by the Minister for Civil Aviation (Mr H. V. Thorby), •who, according to reports, bitterly attacked the Leader of the Opposition (Mr J. Curtin) as a result of the latters criticism of the proposed permanent air court of inquiry.
Mr Thorby is reported to have described Mr Curtin as a *-political crank who deliberately misquoted and misconstrued Government statements and plans." Mr Thorby added: "I wish I had the power to put traitors against the wall and shoot them."
Mr Curtin replying from Perth. by telephone to-day said that he intends to ask the Prime Minister CMr J. A. Lyons) to accept responsibility for Mr Thorby's "Fascist-like declaration," or to gazette him out of office.
