ONTARIO LIBERALS' CAUCUS
CONFIDENCE IN PRIME MINISTER
DIFFERENCES WITH PREMIER TO BE INVESTIGATED
(OfITUD PSE33 ASSOCXATIOX —COFEEIGHT.) (Received December 20, 8.30 p-m.) OTTAWA, December 19. Eighty Ontario Liberals, including members of Parliament, Senators, and defeated candidates, unanimously adopted a vote of unbounded confidence in the Prime Minister (Mr W. L. Mackenzie King) at a caucus summoned to consider the break with the Premier (Mr Mitchell Hepburn). Two Senators and six Liberal members of Parliament were absent.
The secret caucus decided to continue its investigations into the differences between Mr King and Mr Hepburn. These arise mainly through Mr Hepburn's allegation of masterly inactivity by the Prime Minister regarding the refunding of the national debt, the solution of unemployment, the acquisition of new markets, and his alleged favouritism towards the prairie farmers at the expense of Ontario. The situation is causing the Government concern. If the Ontario electorate follows Mr Hepburn at the next election, the Federal Government is likely to suffer severely.
