A BRAVE ACTION
SO THE EDITOB OT THE PBESB Sir, —Peace has its victories as well as war. In ordinary times we do not seem to realise the heroic things that happen every day. When I saw the "traffic cop" the other day clambering on to the horse's back, along the shafts of the van, I began to realise the things that heroes do in ordinary course, without any idea of plaudits or reward other than knowing that duty has been done. The traffic was in full swing along Lichfield street at the time, so Colombo street traffic would have been violently disturbed, and there was every chance of a serious accident. It was well that we had a man like Mr Stacey on point duty at the time of the runaway—an officer who thought quickly and acted promptly.-Yours, etc., December 20, 1938.
