FALL WHILE HUNTING
SON OF MAYOR OF AUCKLAND INJURED (PSKBS ASSOCIATION TKLVGKAM.) AUCKLAND. July 27. While following the hounds of the Pakuranga Hunt Club at Waiuku. Desmond Davis, only son of Sir Ernest and Lady Davis, fell from his horse after jumping a high fence. He suffered severe injuries to the back, and was taken to Waiuku Hospital in the Countess of Orford’s motor-car. After treatment Davis was brought to a private hospital in Auckland. It is expected that he will be confined to bed for some time, but is progressing well, and a complete recovery is expected. Davis had successfully negotiated a fence in company with several riders. The fall occurred immediately after the jump. While lying on the ground he was fortunate to escape being kicked by his horse, which became very excited and lashed out violently.
