“WHISPERING CAMPAIGN” ALLEGED MR SAVAGE’S ADVICE TO SOME POLITICIANS (PSESS ASSOCIATION. TELEGEAM.) WELLINGTON, June 22. The alleged exposure of the reason for the “whispering campaign" against New Zealand in London made by ah Australian newspaper was described by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. iM. J. Savage) as a fairly correct statement of the position. “But you nave not got to go .6 London for a whispering campaign, he added. “You can find it in Australia. Some Australian politicians and economists seem to be more’ concerned about New Zealand affairs than about Australian. My advice to them is to mind their own business for a few moments. I can hardly'find myself going to Australia and advising the Australians what they should do. “I have already refused to do that,” he said. “It was during the recent election campaigns there. I sometimes wonder whether I. was right in that attitude in view of the actions of some people there. An the same, it is not right to blarrie the Government for some of. the stupid utterances of some of its supporters. This is quite clear to me.

“We are guing ahead by leaps and bounds,” ’Tr Savage said. “New Zealand will pay her way at home and abroad. I don’t know ’how much more anyone can expect.”
