MEETING OF CANTERBURY BRANCH MISS C. DALZIEL ELECTED A LIFE MEMBER Miss C. Dalziel, a past president ol the Canterbury Women Teachers Association, was unanimously elected a lif6 jncnibcr of thG association st s meeting of members held last evening. Miss A. F. Ironside (president), who presided, welcomed Miss E. Marriott and Miss M. Petyt, two exchange teachers from England, and two new members, Mrs E. Woodhead and Miss L. H. Sheen. , ' . . .. Miss E. Burn gave a report of the activities of the National Council ol Women, and brought forward various remits for the consideration of members. Delegates to the May conference of New Zealand Women Teachers gave a short report of proceedings, and Miss M. Schwebe, treasurer of the Dominion association, gave a short financial report. Miss E. Sapsford explained several remits dealt with at the conference,’ which were of special interest to women teachers. Members were greatly interested in a short resume, given by Miss K, Turner, of the work and history of the Canterbury association since its inauguration in 1901—the first association of its kind formed in New Zealand. A talk on personalities of the conference was given by Miss 9. Fraser, and Miss A. C. O’Brian moved a vote of thanks to the speakers.
