CAR CAPSIZES ON HILL PASSENGER KILLED (EJABAI ASSOCIATION rELEGEAM.) DUNEDIN, March 6. When a car capsized on Football Hill, about two miles from Ranfurly, at 9.30 p.m. on Saturday, John Redding, a single man, aged about 32 years, of Ranfurly, was killed. The driver of the car, Edward Woods, a single man, aged 26, whose parents live at Kyeburn, and Vera Hanrahan, aged 26, suffered injuries, and were admitted to hospital. A bird passenger escaped with slight inuries. DEATH FROM INJURIES MAN KNOCKED DOWN AT KAIAPOI The death of Roy Shakespeare Ayers, aged 44, of Ohoka road, Kaiapoi, from injuries received when he was knocked down by a motor-car in High street, Kaiapoi, on the evening of Saturday. February 26, occurred in the Christchurch Hospital on Saturday afternoon. Ayers suffered laceration of the skull, a compound fracture of the left leg. and concussion, in the accident. The inquest on Ayers was opened yesterday before Mr H. A. Young S.M., and after evidence of identification had been given by Mr J. D. Godfrey, of Christchurch, it was adjourned sine die. MOTOR-CYCLE IN COLLISION WITH CAR TWO YOUNG MEN INJURED (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, March 6. Two young men were injured in a collision between a motor-cycle ana a car at Lower Hutt at 1.15 a.m. on Sunday. Arthur Lawrence, of Petone, suffered a fractured skull, and Athol Heyder, of Lower Hutt, a broken lower jaw. Lawrence was still unconscious tonight, and Heyder was progressing favourably. The motor-cycle collided on the south approach to the Hutt bridge with the side of a car, but none of the several passengers of the car was injured. Because of the condition of the two men, it was not possible to-day to find out which was the rider of the motor-cycle and which the pillion passenger.

Four children received injuries necessitating their being taken to the Christchurch Public . Hospital when they fell out of a truck at Sandilands on Saturday afternoon. They were:— Louis Campbell, aged 10, of 65 Norwich street, Linwood, head injuries and concussion.

Dulcie Wentworth, aged four, of 167 Aldwin’s road, Linwood, broken arm and abrasions to face and both knees, Margaret Benson, aged five, of 26 Havelock street, abrasions to the left arm and concussion.

Olive Renwick, aged seven, of 580 Hereford street, suspected fracture of the left arm.

Olive Renwick received treatment before being taken home. The other three were reported yesterday as not being in a serious condition. The vehicle, which carried about 20 children and adults, who had attended the picnic of the Linwood Baptist Sunday school at Pleasant Point, was turning an incline on Page’s road on the way home about 6.30 p.m., when the accident occurred. Twelve of the children, who are believed to have crowded on one side of the truck fell out when the seat on which they were sitting overturned. The truck was travelling about 20 miles an hour. MOTOR-CARS COLLIDE AT PREBBLETON When two motor-cars collided in Dawson’s road, Prebbleton, late on Saturday afternoon, a man named Graham, who Jives at 49 Stewart street, Christchurch, suffered head abrasions. He received treatment as an outpatient at the Christchurch Public Hospital where he was taken by a St. John ambulance.
